Can You Drive the Ball 300 Yards? Here’s How to Tell
Lots of golfers want to hit the ball 300 yards. It’s fun. It looks cool. And it can give you a big edge on the course.
But here’s the truth:
If your body can’t move the right way, you’ll never hit it that far—no matter how good your swing looks.
At Apex Performance Institute, we use the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) method to test your body. These tests help us see if you have the power, mobility, and control needed to drive the ball 300 yards.
1. Do You Have Power?
We use a few fun tests to check your power:
Vertical Jump: How high can you jump? Big jump = strong legs.
Med Ball Chest Pass: Can you throw a ball far while sitting down? This shows upper-body strength.
Rotational Med Ball Throw: Can you twist and throw a ball far? This shows golf swing power.
If you score well here, you probably have enough strength to create speed.
2. Can You Move the Right Way?
To hit the ball far, your body must move well. We look at:
Hip Rotation
Back (T-spine) Rotation
Shoulder Mobility
If you’re stiff in any of these areas, your body will cheat the swing—and that leads to lower power and more injuries.
3. Can You Stay Stable?
Next, we check your core. Strong core muscles help you transfer energy from your legs to the club.
We test things like:
Balance
Core strength
Pelvic control
4. Do You Sequence Your Swing?
Even if you’re strong, if your body moves in the wrong order, you’ll lose power. With special swing tools (like 3D motion sensors), we can see if your swing is firing in the right sequence.
So… Can You Hit 300?
If you have the power, mobility, and core control—and your swing is efficient—then yes, 300 yards is possible!
If not, we can help you build those skills.
